DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

English language being a compulsory component of every major course offered, the department of English is the only department to reach out all the students of the college. The department faces an astonishing variety of motley of students – right from those who struggle hard to get just a pass in English to those who acquire enviable competence in English. Naturally, the department has to be flexible and accommodative of the pressing needs of the students.

Accordingly, the department takes the initiative of identifying disadvantaged students mostly of rural background or first generation learners or from depressed sections of the society such as Scheduled castes, backward classes and most backward classes or Regional medium students. It conducts Course to make such students’ entry into college by smooth and pleasing way. Additionally, students unable to catch up with the rest are administered by Remedial Course. The study materials are cyclostyled and supplied at nominal cost to students by which the subjects are made quite easy for the students.

The department of English was established in the year 1971. It has been teaching courses in English language, Literature and Translation. Dr .A. Nihamathulla M.A., PGDTE., M.A.(Translation)Ph.D., Associate Prof. is the head of the department.
