Greetings from the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.
We are pleased to announce the launch of Hack for a Social Cause 2026, a national tech challenge under the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2026. The hackathon invites young minds to create software-based solutions that address some of India’s most pressing social challenges.
Who Can Participate:
Students aged 18-29 years, in teams of up to 3 members.
Only one team per college, institute, or university can participate in this track.
A bonafide certificate, signed by the institution, is mandatory and attached for reference.
Indicative Themes:
Participants may develop digital and technology-driven solutions across the following indicative broad areas or any other theme of their own choice:
Rural Development & Livelihoods | Education & Skill Development | Healthcare & Well-being | Governance & Civic Technology | Environment & Sustainability | Digital Inclusion | AI, GIS & Emerging Technologies | Disaster Mitigation & Resilience
Participants will also get the opportunity to present their solutions during the National Showcase at VBYLD 2026 in New Delhi, where the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India is expected to attend the programme.
The team that represents each institute may be selected through an internal screening/selection process as per the enclosed guidelines for internal selection.
