Mr. Ganesh Manikandan emphasized the significance of financial discipline, customer service, and ethical practices in banking. He provided practical examples to help students understand real-world banking procedures and encouraged them to consider career opportunities in the banking sector. The session offered valuable knowledge about how banks operate and the evolving trends in the financial industry. The programme concluded successfully with a sense of academic inspiration and professional awareness. The inaugural function served as a strong foundation for the department’s activities and enriched students with essential knowledge about the banking system.
With the objective of nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset among students, the Department of Commerce (Finance) organized a Guest Lecture on 05.02.2024 on the topic “Entrepreneur Skills.” The programme aimed to equip students with practical knowledge and confidence to become successful entrepreneurs. The session commenced with a Qirath recited by Esa Muzamil, creating a respectful and positive atmosphere. The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. K. Sheik Mydeen, who emphasized the growing importance of entrepreneurship in today’s economy and highlighted that entrepreneurial skills are essential for leadership, innovation, and career growth.
The Resource Person, Mr. V. Thillai Chithambaram, delivered an inspiring and informative lecture on the key skills required for entrepreneurial success. He discussed qualities such as creativity, risk-taking ability, decision-making, leadership, financial management, communication, and adaptability. He stressed that entrepreneurship is not merely about starting a business but about identifying opportunities, solving problems, and creating value for society.
Through practical experiences and real-life business examples, he explained the challenges and responsibilities of entrepreneurs. He encouraged students to develop self-confidence, persistence, and a positive mindset. Special emphasis was given to business planning, market analysis, and effective resource utilization.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Ed. Priyadharshini, expressing gratitude to the resource person and organizers. The session was highly informative and motivational, inspiring students to explore entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities with confidence.
The Integrated Department of Commerce Unaided (Commerce A, B & Finance) organized a One-Day National Level Seminar on the topic “The Challenging Dimensions on Digital Marketing” on 26th February 2024 at 9.00 a.m. in the College Seminar Hall. A total of 177 participants, including students and faculty members from various colleges, attended the seminar.
The inaugural session commenced at 10.00 a.m. with Qirath. Dr. S.M.A. Syed Mohamed Khaja, Vice Principal, delivered the Welcome Address. The Presidential Address was given by Dr. A. Shakul Hamid, Principal (i/c). The Felicitation Address was delivered by Dr. A. Hamil, Head and Associate Professor, PG & Research Department of Commerce.
Session I featured the keynote address by Mr. K. Jaya Kumar, Certified Lead Auditor and Guest Faculty at Kerala Media Academy and Institute of Journalism, Press Club, Trivandrum.
Technical Session II began at 11.45 a.m., with Dr. A. Jesuraj welcoming the gathering. The session was handled by Dr. K. Rajamannar, Assistant Professor of Commerce, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli.
Session III, the Paper Presentation Session, commenced at 2.00 p.m. and was moderated by Dr. C. Chelladurai, Associate Professor of Commerce, VHNSN College, Virudhunagar. Participants actively presented their research papers.
The Valedictory Session was held from 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Dr. K. Sheik Mydeen delivered the Welcome Address. The seminar proceedings were released by Dr. A. Hamil. The Valedictory Address was delivered by Dr. B. Ravichandran, Head and Associate Professor of Commerce, VHNSN College, Virudhunagar. Certificates were distributed to the participants, and the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. J. Asanya Fathima, Assistant Professor of Commerce (Finance).
The seminar concluded successfully with active participation and meaningful academic discussions on digital marketing challenges.
The Department of Commerce (Finance) organized its Valedictory Function on 22.04.2024, marking the successful completion of the academic year’s activities and extension programmes. The occasion was graced by Dr. P. Mathan Kumar, Assistant Professor of Commerce (Shift II), Loyola College (Autonomous), Chennai, who delivered the valedictory address on the topic “Eco-System for Empowerment of Youth in the 21st Century.” In his insightful address, Dr. Mathan Kumar highlighted the concept of an empowerment ecosystem, which includes education, skill development, entrepreneurship support, digital platforms, government initiatives, industry collaboration, and social networks. He emphasized that youth empowerment extends beyond employment to innovation, leadership, social responsibility, and lifelong learning. He encouraged students to actively participate in skill enhancement programmes, internships, start-up initiatives, and research activities, stressing the importance of adaptability, digital literacy, and ethical values for sustained success. The programme concluded on an inspiring note, motivating students to become proactive contributors to society. The valedictory function effectively reinforced the significance of building a strong ecosystem to empower youth in the 21st century.
